Relegated Watford FC will demand over £40m for Ismaila Sarr who is attracting interest from a series of clubs in Europe.
It would be a club-record fee for a player and there have been reports that the 22-year-old is attracting interest from Liverpool, Crystal Palace, and Wolves as well as sides in Germany and Spain.
Watford spent £30m to sign Sarr from Rennes last summer and after scoring six goals in his debut season in the Premier League, its believed the player’s value has only increased as he still has four years left on his contract.
Clubs are now ready to pounce for Sarr after Watford were relegated, but the Hornets are ready to fight hard and will demand a fee in excess of the record £40m Everton paid for Richarlison in 2018 according to the Evening Standard.
The club’s finances have been hit by the Covid-19 pandemic and relegation from the Premier League and a chunk of players are expected to leave.
Apart from Sarr, midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure is one of those likely to leave the club but there are reports too that Watford owner Gino Pozzo wants to keep a chunk of their players as they seek to bounce immediately back to the Premier League.
